In 1958, Michel Brault and Gilles Groulx made Les raquetteurs. This short film became something of a manifesto for French-language filmmakers at the NFB and was one of the earliest examples of “cinéma direct”. The images shown here, shot fifteen years earlier, are an illustration of how different approaches to documentary cinema can result in quite distinct films.
