The popular and critical success of the film Un homme et son péché prompted Québec Productions to produce the first sequel in the history of Quebec cinema, Séraphin. This time, audiences were confronted to a greater degree with the hard reality of settlers in the Laurentians region – the “land up there”. As the energetic priest Labelle declares, “Settling a land isn’t done with over indulgence. Every time the land is settled anywhere in the world there is hardship!”
